The populace was 15,453 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat. Minnesota State Highways 25 and 55 are two of the chief routes in the city.
According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 9.64 square miles (24.97 km2); 7.17 square miles (18.57 km2) is territory and 2.47 square miles (6.40 km2) is water. Buffalo was platted in 1856, and titled after close-by Buffalo Lake. A postal service has been in operation at Buffalo since 1856. The small-town school precinct is titled Buffalo Hanover Montrose Schools.
It is composed of schools inside the town/city of Buffalo, and small-town suburbs of Hanover and Montrose.
There are six elementary schools, which include Discovery Center, Northwinds Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Tatanka Elementary, Hanover Elementary, and Montrose Elementary.

The orchestra has been part of the Buffalo improve since 1995, and has over 50 members.
