Clearwater was platted in 1856, and titled after the close-by Clearwater River. A postal service has been in operation at Clearwater since 1856. Three properties in Clearwater are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the 1861 First Congregational Church of Clearwater, the 1863 William W.
