The populace was 10,125 at the 2010 census. It is titled for the north branch of the Sunrise River, which flows through the city. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 36.04 square miles (93.34 km2), of which, 35.60 square miles (92.20 km2) is territory and 0.44 square miles (1.14 km2) is water. In 1901, however, North Branch split into a village covering the more densely populated downtown region and a township covering the rest of the former village.

As of the census of 2010, there were 10,125 citizens , 3,604 homeholds, and 2,591 families residing in the city.

There were 3,767 housing units at an average density of 105.8 per square mile (40.8/km2).

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 96.6% White, 0.5% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.8% Asian, 0.3% from other competitions, and 1.3% from two or more competitions.
